Throttler is here with two interesting and irregular stuffs - a bit different tunes what You can accept from this Hellenic export. 'No Hold Back' is a solid techy choppage-kind track with huge power in it. 'Pulses' is a digital sledgehammer which refers to an ancient era of hardstep and a possible way to the hardcorish drum'n'bass. This release is another proof which states: there is reason of existence of oddish breaks and drums!
Who is Throttler?
Mr Foskolos aka Throttler begun as a raver back in 1992 with techno and breaks. He was firstly influenced by uk hardcore and early jungle producers and bands like Prodigy, Acen, Messiah, DJ Hype and more. The dark times of 1997, drew his attention to drum'n'bass and artists like DJ SS, Dom & Roland, Ed Rush and Trace became his “sound” idols at that time. In 1999 he started spinning as a DJ as an amateur at local parties and at the same time worked as an employee at a local record store. He started music production in 1999 with amateur equipment. Now uses “the holy trinity”, Cubase, Reason, Wavelab, which haunts his home studio. Mostly produces a mixture of dark, hard and fast, constantly alternating music, made of notorious landscapes and techy dancefloor breakbeat treatment.
In 2004 he gets announced “drum n bass producer of the year” in the “Unofficial Greek Drum n Bass Awards”, and at that time, more active than ever, starts with his mates the Nation Of Distortion Crew, a crew devoted to underground electronic music. The crew has begun a series of events known as “Fright Nights”, which have already reached number 3 in only one year. At the same time he started spinning in net radio shows. He has performed live at “Fright Night” events part 1, 2 (‘04) and 3 (‘05), and at internet radio shows such as “Drumbeats pt2” (‘04), “Break Alert” (‘05) and “Crew Connection Radio” (‘05). He had slots on “Witness The Sickness” and on “CC-Radio” net radio stations as his own weekly shows.
Now he has got signed at “Obseti Records”, “Chase Records”, “Exegene” net labels, “Darkstep.org”, “ISO:LATION TANK", "Killing Sheep", "Alphacut", "Manticore", "Sustained" and "No Room For Talent". He is a member of “C8”, “East Coast DnB Trooperz” and “Nation Of Distortion”. The press like Knowledge and Soundmaker also got attracted to his productions - both the solo stuff and his collaborations with female vocalist Lowbss in their common project The Throttler & Lowbss Project (their songs were released on Independenza).
